One premise of the thesis is that our genes have a greater influence on our behavior than our upbringing. To quote the author, “the influence of genes on human behavior is greater than the family environment.” While this idea may hold truth, it can also seem obvious and lacking in depth. Our genes govern many basic functions: we sleep, breathe, eat, make love, and ultimately die. Most of our daily activities are genetically driven. Certain behaviors are shaped by the culture in which we live - we study, we go to work and we try to eat a lot of greens.
